SEA-NL positions up for grabs: President, Captain Over 40' fleet, and regional reps

Nominations are open for the positions of President, Captain of the Over 40’ Fleet, and

a regional representative for each of the five adjacent fishing zones — including 2J, 3K, 3L, 3Ps, and 4R/3Pn. Ideally, candidates must be gifted with common sense, and a natural leaning towards doing what's right for the inshore and all her fleets.

All members in good standing (meaning annual dues have been paid) are eligible to nominate a candidate or run for a SEA-NL position. Go here to sign-up.

Candidates are encouraged to declare their intention to run ahead of the AGM by emailing me at sea-nl@outreach.com

The positions of President and Captain of the Over 40’ Fleet will be for a one-year term because they were left vacant mid-way through the term.

The regional rep positions will be for two-year terms, and candidates must fish out of the fishing zones they wish to represent.

The President’s position was left vacant in January with the resignation of Bay Bulls enterprise owner Jason Sullivan, who stepped down as part of his run for leadership of the FFAW-Unifor.

Ken Courtney, owner of the Courtney Pride II out of Francois, resigned as Captain of the over 40’ fleet this month for personal reasons. This is the first time that the regional rep positions are up for election.

All SEA-NL executive positions are voluntary, with the day-to-day work of the association carried out by a paid staff led by the Executive Director.

The elections will be held during SEA-NL’s first AGM on Saturday, Feb. 25th at the Albatross Hotel in Gander.

Please go here to register for the AGM, which is open to both members and non members.

SEA-NL members can also take part in the AGM virtually.

Go here for more information on AGM ’23.

A detailed agenda will be e-mailed to all registered members.
