Labrador, Petty Harbour & Fogo Island have them, could coop work for your fleet (or entire inshore)?

Updated: Oct 18

SEA-NL is organizing a Zoom meeting for Thursday, Oct. 19th, from 7-8:30 p.m. to discuss the idea of a cooperative business model for the inshore fleet. Our guest will be local expert Ken Kavanagh, who had a hand in incorporating 12 of the last 13 cooperatives created in Newfoundland and Labrador.

As it stands, three fishery coops operate in the province (Torngat Fish Producers, Petty Harbour Fisherman’s, and Fogo Island), and a coop model could work for your local fleet, or for the province’s entire inshore fleet for that matter. Ken’s a great guy, and well-prepared to handle any question you throw at him (especially where it's Co-op Week in the province). SEA-NL members please check your email for an invitation to the Zoom event. Enterprise owners who are not SEA-NL members can request a Zoom invite by emailing outreach.sea-nl.ca or calling 709-743-7125. See you Thursday,

Ryan Cleary, Executive Director, SEA-NL
