Feast to famine, waves in snow crab market make it clear inshore fleet too reliant on single species

Northern cod obviously won't pick up the slack, but 2023 may be one of those years when every species will be important to getting through it. DFO has been asked for a northern cod harvest of up to 25,000 tonnes this year — almost double 2022, and the highest level in 31 years of moratorium. Labrador alone wants 20% of whatever total is set. Here's a breakdown of the year ahead.
